Sat 6.8. 10.00-12.00 | Old Library (Vanha kirjastotalo, Keskustori 4)

Higher arts education is a laboratory of the future. What kinds of futures are being made? What does the future of performing arts and artists look like from an educational perspective? How can an arts education instil and reinforce artistic, professional, and social expertise in students? In what ways are interpersonal activity and communities being formed through education? How can we inspire boundary-breaking agency (between professions, disciplines, countries) through arts education?

Perspectives on the futures of theatre, multiple authorships, change and permanence, and power, hidden hierarchies and exclusion will be offered by Pauliina Hulkko, professor of Theatre Work at the University of Tampere; Saana Lavaste, professor of directing at Theatre Academy of Arts University, Esa Kirkkopelto, professor of the Performing Arts Research Centre and Katariina Numminen, professor of dramaturgy at Theatre Academy of Arts University. Marina Davydova, curator of the Wiener Festwochen will comment. THINK TANK is moderated by Hanna Helavuori, director of TINFO.
