TINFO – Theatre Info Finland and Tampere Theatre Festival together with New Play Finland (UNO) will arrange an event called Future is Present on Monday 6th–Sunday 12th August 2018. The event consists of honest and fresh Finnish performances, stage readings and encounters between international curators, festival directors, dramaturges and Finnish performing arts artists and playwrights. Performances included in the event are spread throughout the week, and the meetings and discussions – part of the event will take place on Friday 10th–Saturday 11th. During the Festival week international guests will have the chance to get to know the work of some of the most intriguing and exciting artists, thinkers and activists of the Finnish theatre scene. Finnish Showcase (this year called Future is Present) has been organized as a part of Tampere Theatre Festival in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.

Tampere Theatre Festival

Tampere Theatre Festival is one of Europe’s most important festivals of professional theatre, serving as a display window for the finest Finnish and international productions. This year the Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

During the first week of August it offers a compact, yet high quality package of 21st century drama, classics, performance, dance theatre and street theatre. Every year the festival draws over 80 000 visitor to about 350 events.
